Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the sky blue?

The sky appears blue because of a phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering. When sunlight enters Earth's atmosphere, it is made up of all the colors of the visible spectrum. These colors have different wavelengths, with blue light having a shorter wavelength and red light having a longer wavelength.

As sunlight passes through the atmosphere, the shorter wavelengths (blue and violet) are scattered in all directions by the gases and particles in the air. Because our eyes are more sensitive to blue light and because some of the violet light is absorbed by the upper atmosphere, the sky appears predominantly blue to us.

This scattering is more pronounced when the sun is higher in the sky, which is why the sky appears more intensely blue during the day. At sunrise and sunset, the light passes through more atmosphere, scattering the shorter wavelengths out of view and leaving the longer wavelengths, like red and orange, which is why the sky can appear these colors during these times.

Also, pretty much because God thought it looked cool that way.

Why must I bathe more than once a week?

Because you stink.

Can I become part of this awesome amazing unequivocally badass radio station too?
